Hi All,
Today we went carol singing with churches together in Upton and we were well received not only on the streets but also in the memorial hall and later at Berrow Court. As many of you know I have been suffering with a cold most of the week and before we set of today I promised myself that since my main job was handing out sweets and invitation to the church services in Upton over the next week or so that I would not sing!
I have to say that when the first few bars of the first carol had been sung I found myself joining in with the carols that have been sung down throughout the generations. It was as if I could not stop myself. With an apology for anyone who heard my singing which was not great it was really good to join in even though I know I hit many more wrong notes than good ones!
It made me realise that what was really important was not the notes sung but the praise given to our Lord whose birth we come together to celebrate.
At the end of the morning David challenged us all to think about what we might do better next year and to let him know. If you were there this morning then why not start a church discussion on this website and we can join together in working out an answer to the question.
On another note I must say I am really looking forward to both the nativity service in the morning tomorrow and the carols by candlelight in the evening. They will both (I know) be different from each other but both are expressions of celebrations of the nativity and the birth of Jesus and another chance for me to sing up – even if I do not sing well!
Need to end now as I am being called out the door by Lorraine but let me know what you think of the blog posts, whether you like them, want more, or less, what you want in them etc. I will try and take everyone’s comments into account as we develop the blog without guaranteeing we will be able to do everything.
God Bless and see you at a Christmas Service
Paul.
